Liberal Arts Course
English

Providing the language techniques which includes writing, listening as well as speaking and reading, this course is designated to overview the understanding of real culture in English language. Moreover, students will cultivate the basic and practical language ability which is required as a nurse in globalized society.

English Ⅱ

This course is intended to provide more intensive practice using the basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. All students will begin making the transition from memorized learning to thinking and expressing themselves. Moreover, students will acquire international competitiveness through this course by deepening their English communication skills and cultural understanding.

Introduction to Psychology

This module is to offer students a various scientific knowledge and theories of human behavior and mentality and to help them about themselves and others and surrounding social environment so that they can get a better understanding of, and improve individual development.

Human growth and development

The purpose of this subject is to provide students with the opportunity to understand the effects of exercise. Students examining and studying health promotion through the modification of concept, habit, and behavior, in daily life and understanding physical, mental, and social values of sports and human activities.

Freshman Seminar (Freshman Seminar)

This course consists of team-teaching by the president of this college, professors of education & nursing, and alumni in a field of industry. The contents primarily consist of two topics. First, college life design & self-led learning ability, personal relationship ability in college and networking as developing ability for a successful college life. Second, planning own dream and career as a professional nurse and its practical strategies through opening a alumni in a field of industry invitation seminar and preparing a life plan.

Human relationship and communication

The human relationship and communication is a mutual learning experience and a corrective emotional experience for the client.It is based on the underlying humanity of nurse and patient, with mutual respect and acceptance of sociocultural differences.In this relationship the nurse uses personal attributes and clinical techniques in working with the patient to bring about insight and behavioral change.

Korean Language and Writing

The goal is to prepare students who have the appropriate knowledge, skills and habits of mind for speech and writing. This program is mainly to provide how to write their reports, examination papers, self-introduction papers etc.

Introduction to Philosophy

Introduction to Philosophy is the study of the influence of philosophy and religion on civilizations, with sections on eastern Asia. It reviews the historic development of three traditions- Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism which is linked to Korean culture.

Introduction to Education

Introduction to Education is a broad introductory course that provides an outline of the key ideas associated with education. It deals with the educational issues that confront us in the 21st century.

Educational Sociology

Sociology of Education aims to introduce students to the discipline of sociology by looking at the contributions of key thinkers in the field - and relating their ideas to their social, political and historical contexts. The relationships between education, social class, social integration and conflict, and educational opportunity are considered.

Understanding on Multiculture

The goal of this class is to understand Korea entering multi-cultural society and to try envision the future of Korea.

Health Security Policy

The objective of this course is to understand basic concept and policy of health security and public health. The course prepares and helps students to effectively manage nursing process.

Bioethics

This course aims to make students acquainted with and give serious thoughts to the various ethical dilemmas posed by the today's advanced and advancing life sciences. Focusing on the 7 major issues of modern bioehtics [i.e., doctor-patient relationship, euthanasia, abortion, suicide, organ transplant, genetic manipulation, experiments on living human bodies], it examines and discusses the pros and cons of each issue, introduces a couple of films that tackle or contain it, and encourages students to write short essays about them. In such process, it intends to help each future medical staff nurture and sharpen ethical sensibilities so that she will be able to make sound judgements in real face-to-face situations.

Introduction to Humanities

This course deals mostly with the greek and roman mythologies which is widely recognized as the very source of histories, philosophies, literature and arts [i.e., the "humanities"] of the Western Civilization. With Ovid's as the main text, it aims to let students read, relish, and realize this mankind's eternal classic. Also by encouraging students to enact in forms of play some of those mythologies, it intends to help them "muse" the profound meanings of this invaluable spiritual treasure so that they can enrich their understanding of human nature.

Major Course
Human structure and function

This course is designed to help students develop a basic knowledge of the normal structure and function of the human body. At the end of the course the student will have a working knowledge of cell structure, organization of tissues and systems with emphasis on homeostasis, stress and feedback systems.

Pathophysiology

This course focuses on the nature and process of disease. Studies of pathogenesis, cause, functional change, clinical manifestation, and complication of disease are explored for better understanding of the clients.

Medical Terminology

The objectives is on understanding basic medical terms and how they are used in documenting and reporting patient care procedure.

Microbiology and Infection Control

Students have to obtain basic knowledge and actual practice of medical microbiology : physiology of microbiology, infection, sterilization and disinfection, immunology and infection control and apply these knowledge in nursing work.

Pharmacology for Nursing

The course covers general principles of pharmacology, autonomic pharmacology, and other major areas of drugs used therapeutically and preventively. Learners will know how to use the knowledge of pharmacology and achieve an ability to perform more effective nursing practice.

Introduction to Nursing

Introduction to Nursing, is the initial course for the student entering the profession of nursing as a profession. The student learns to apply knowledge from behavioral and biological sciences in formulating a professionalism and ethics of foundation for one's nursing practice. Concepts related to history, philosophy, ethical/legal aspects are introduced.

Fundamentals of Nursing

This lecture is designed to provide basic nursing principles for professional nursing: focusing on basic human needs, concepts in health assessment, and basic nursing skills.

Critical Thinking and Nursing Process

This course is designed to help students learn each stage of nursing process and how to apply their skills to patients in reality. Students will learn how to communicate with nurses and how to formulate nursing plans for patients by making more accurate clinical decisions. Ultimately, students will develop problem-solving ability in order to deal with conceptual and practical aspects of nursing process in a balanced way. Diverse subjects are dealt with synthetically by discussing each stage of nursing process

Health Acessement and Practice

This course includes physical assessment techniques, interviewing skills and introduction to medical terminology and health risk assessment across the life span, emphasizing differences between normal and abnormal, and synthesizing results in client's health status.

Adult Nursing

In adult nursing programs, students study advanced theories of nursing, physiology, and disease prevention. Also, students study in diagnosis, treatment, statistics, and pharmacology about acute and chronic illness to perform holistic nursing approaches. Adult health nursing also emphasizes practical training. Students learn how to take patient histories, assess risk factors, promote healthy living, treat illnesses and disorders, perform physical exams, and communicate effectively with patients.

Practice in Adult Nursing

Clinical practice course in adult health nursing. The focus is on application of theories, concepts, research, issues and trends in caring for adults with basic and commonly occurring health care needs. Emphasis is on the role of the professional nurse and on the use of the nursing process with adults experiencing basic and commonly occurring health care needs and their families. Content includes internal and external environmental factors affecting the health of adults with complex health care needs. Emphasis is on the role of the professional nurse in health promotion and maintenance, illness care, and rehabilitation of adults.

Maternity Nursing

Maternity Nursing encompassed reproductive health care and the unique physical, psychologic, and social needs of women throughout their life span. On the basis of evidence-based information act they as a role of nursing provider, manager, faciliatator, consultor etc. by using a Nursing Process Tool.

Practice in Maternity Nursing

Nursing assessment diagnoses and prioritizing care are presented during the ante- intra- and postpartum phases of labor and birth, women's health. Normal and high-risk women and neonates, gynecologic diseases are the focus of the dynamic interaction process. Throughout the practice, students develop critical thinking skills and apply nursing process framework. Also students prepares to fully meet the needs of today's clients and to master the challenges of contemporary maternity nursing practice.

Child Health Nursing

This subject is focused on nursing and medical practice with holistic care to infants, children and adolescents, which differs from paediatrics, in that the emphasis in paediatrics is ill-health and the alleviation of symptoms or disease. This subject teaches learners how to understand normal growth and development of children. Students will learn an attitudes and skills not only of scientific knowledge but of nursing intervention which help keep an optimal health condition.

Practice in Pediatric Nursing

This subject is to help students grasp nursing problem regarding patient care and have scientific knowledge. Through the course, students will develop their ability to perform nursing care by using nursing intervention for the related problems and to educate families and children about health.

Community Health Nursing

This is aimed to learn the knowledge related to health maintenance and promotion of community. Students will learn theories, laws, polices, public health care system, public affairs, community health nursing process, management of epidemic disease, as well as relations with environment and health. Also, they will be improved comprehension related to the child-maternity, family, school and industry health care.So, this subject will strengthen the student's ability to execute the community nursing care.

Practice in Community Health Nursing

Community Health nursing practicum is designed to theoretical and conceptual foundations of community health nursing practice. Students will experience nurses' roles in community, particularly in public health and in primary health care settings. The course provides opportunities to advance and add to your nursing knowledge and experience in the field.

Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

The purpose of this course is to provide the students with conceptual basis for promoting, maintaining, restoring the mental health of client throughout the life span. Emphasis will be on theory and concept of human behavior related to psychiatric mental health problem. Also, emphasizes on nursing intervention of client with dysfunctional behavior pattern. Within the frame of nursing process, nursing practice provide for the study of client with psychiatric mental health problem.Emphasis will be on the development of implementation skill, self- awareness, empathy and communication techniques that are essential in providing support to the client with psychiatric disorder, opportunity is also provided for participation in therapeutic programs with the interdisciplinary mental health team.

Practice in Psychiatric Nursing

This course will have the emphasis on clinical experiences necessary for application of the nursing practice with clients who have psychiatric-mental health problems. Emphasis on competency in specific skill of nursing assessment and intervention in the adult psychiatric patients based on data collected during nurse-patients interaction.

This course has a goal to develop a problem-solving ability in the various nursing situations through comprehendingm analyzing, examing overall learning contents focused on major subject of nursing.

Health Education

The subject is aimed to positively change health knowledge, attitude and behavior of clients' health. Students will learn laws, theories and assessment of clients related to health education, and promote the ability to plan, perform, and evaluate health education program.

Complementary and Alternative Nursing

In this course, the development, measurement, performance, and evaluation of independent nursing mediation related to nursing problems are intensively dealt with in order to apply alternative therapy to clinics as part of independent nursing mediation related to nursing problems. As an independent nursing mediation, this course will cover sensory mediation such as hand acupuncture, cognitive mediation such as imagery therapy, and exercise mediation such as gradual relaxation therapy.

The Development and Evaluation of Health Programs

This course will consider health programs, planning and health programs, problem analysis, and demand investigation. Also, students will learn diverse aspects of health programs such as goal setting, health program designs, health program practice, evaluation theories of health programs, evaluation methods of health programs and result reports.

Nutrition and Diet

In this course, students will study the nature, function, and metabolic process of nutrition for the maintenance, promotion, and rehabilitation of health. In addition, they will examine the nutritional problems of patients or clients and impliment and teach prescribed diets to clients.

An introduction to nursing and health information science, and useful as a basic reference for nursing administrators. Explains the fundamental terms and concepts, the methods used, and some of the most common applications in both community and institutional nursing and in research, education, and administration.

Core Fundamentals of Nursing play a vital role in nursing practice for senior nursing students. These competencies are actually what is expected of them to be applied in clinical and community settings.

Simulation Practicum

The purpose of this subject is to improve clinical performance ability through providing varied clinical practice situation and repeating diverse skill practices that couldn't practice in clinical fields by simulator. Also, the aim is to promote judgment, coping, communication and cooperation ability about the situation through offering the realization of varied clinical situations.

Rehabilitation Nursing

This course helps students learn knowledge and techniques in connection with rehabilitation nursing so that they can recognize and solve the problems of the patients who need rehabilitation to help them to maintain the most optimized condition of functions. The contents of this course consists of theoretical grounds of rehabilitation nursing concepts, roles of rehabilitation nurse and assessment of functions of rehabilitating patients as well as the nursing intervention and rehabilitation program.

Gerontological Nursing

In this course focusing on theoretical grounds, students learn nursing practice to apply nursing process to elderly people in the facilities specializing in care for elderly people such as convalescence facilities, nursing homes and special wards for elderly people and provide nursing care.

Nursing Process and Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is a dynamic, purposeful, analytic process that results in reasoned decisions and judgments. This process incorporates the following competencies such as interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, and explanation. The critical thinker is characterized by open-mindedness, flexibility, rationality, inquisitiveness, intuitiveness, and reflection. The nursing process was originally an adapted form of problem-solving and is classified as a deductive theory. Applying the critical thinking in nursing process is one of the systematic approach for evidence-based practices.

Clinical Pharmacology

This course will promote each student's ability to professionally perform the nursing process (assessment - diagnosis - planning - implementation - evaluation) by applying the learning contents of this course to nursing practice and client education. To achieve this goal, students will learn general principles and knowledge of pharmacology and medication based on pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics.
